The landscape of Ried

»http://www.grandried.fr Situated in the heart of the plain of Alsace between Strasbourg and Colmar, the region of Grand Ried is lined on both sides by Ill and the Rhine. This region includes the sectors of Benfeld, Erstein, Marckolsheim, Gestheim / Rhinau and Sélestat. The term Ried is diverted of German-speaking "Rieth" ho means rush (reed). "Ried" applies by extension to the landscapes of easily flooded meadows and forests in the luxuriant vegetation. The region is crossed by one thousand small rivers and the ground-water appears in clear springs (sources phréatiques), which give birth to "brunnwasser" (phréatiques rivers).

The wine road
